Which web browser should I use when applying for open positions?

The recommended browser is Internet Explorer. Depending upon the operating system you are using, our job application system is compatible with most versions of Netscape, Mozilla Firefox and Chrome.

I got the following error message: “Your resume could not be parsed at this time.” What should I do?

You will receive this error message if the title of your resume/document exceeds the maximum amount of characters allowed. Rename and shorten the title of your document. Alternatively, you may try to save your document to the desktop and try to attach it again. (See screen shot below)

I successfully parsed my resume, but I received an error message that information is missing. What do I do?

We have two known fields that are causing this error Job Title and Degree. If a Job Title is missing, select the “Employer” hyperlink and enter a Job Title. If a degree is missing, enter a valid degree by selecting the “Please Update” hyperlink. Note: You cannot update a resume or application once you have submitted your application to the job opening. (See screen shot below)

Why can’t I find my School or Degree/License in the list?

You must complete the fields in the order they appear and utilize the lookup option (magnifying glass) to search for your school or degree. Start with broad filters, for California enter ‘C’ or University enter ’U’, then sort the columns by description, type or code when needed. Also, it is helpful to know which state your school is accredited in. For Example, University of Phoenix is accredited in Arizona.

I am trying to apply for a position but the page is not loading. Why is the page not loading? Note: You may see a spinning wheel in the upper right corner.

First, check your browser; Internet Explorer 10 is the recommended browser to use when completing an application. Note, however, the Standards mode is not supported and you should use Compatibility or Quirks mode, the default configuration. Please follow the link below for instructions to update your browser:

I am using a different browser, other than Internet Explorer 10, and the page is not loading. What should I do?

  • You may need to clear the cache; following are the instructions for various browsers:

    Internet Explorer 9 or 10

    • Click the gear icon in the top right
    • Go to Safety > Clear Browsing History
    • Select “Delete Files.”
    • Delete Temporary Internet Files

    Internet Explorer 7 or 8

    • Go to Tools > Internet Options
    • On the General Tab under Browsing History, select “Delete Files.”
    • Delete Temporary Internet Files

    Firefox

    • Go to Tools > Clear Recent History or Clear Private Data
    • Select only “cache.”
    • For “Time Range to Clear,” choose “Everything.”
    • Select “Clear Now.”

    Chrome

    • Click on the Settings button in the top right of the browser. (It looks like a wrench or three horizontal lines)
    • Select Clear Browsing Data. (In later versions of Chrome, go to Tools > Clear Browsing Data)
    • Select only “Empty the Cache.”
    • In the dropdown that reads “Obliterate the following items from” select “the beginning of time.”
    • Click the “Clear Browsing Data” button

    Safari

    • Go to Safari > Empty Cache
    • Select yes to “Empty.”

Why did I lose my application data when I navigated away from my page using the “Back” button?

Please use the application site navigational links to move between pages and do not use browser buttons to move forward and back as they do not function within the job site; you will lose data you have entered.

I’m trying to create an account and/or Login but I’m getting a message stating my email address already exists in the system. How do I reset my password?

Click on Login Help and select one of the following options, Get New Password or Find User Name. Complete the required information. You will then receive an email with your log in information. (See screen shot below)

Instead of completing an application online, can I email my resume and cover letter to your recruiting mailbox?

Can I submit a paper application to the office, distribution center or store location I’m interested in?

Office Depot’s method of accepting applications and hiring is an online process. For consideration we require applicants to complete an online application at: http://jobs.officedepot.com. You can search for the location you are interested in by zip code or city, state.

I’m interested in multiple positions. How many positions can I apply for?

You are able to apply for all positions you are interested in. There is no limit to how many applications you may submit.

I have applied for multiple positions. Where can I review each of the openings I completed an application for?

When you log in to your account, you can review a list of “Accepted/Unaccepted” applications in the Career Tools section. Select the link to review a list of all jobs you have applied to along with your status. (See screen shot below)
