Overview

The Manager, Business Solutions Sales is a sales position that is assigned a current set of customers to manage and grow and who is also responsible for retaining and growing their book of business by identifying new prospects, soliciting, selling, and implementing ODP Business Solutions products and services to the small and medium size market within a defined geography.   The Business Solutions Sales Manager will work towards strengthening the business relationships and maximizing the penetration opportunities of existing customers by providing holistic business solutions to customers.  Additionally, the Manager, Business Solutions Sales, is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and acquiring new customers that will contribute profitable growth to the organization. Once accounts are won, this role will partner to onboard the new customers and partner with cross-functional experts on our product lines to expand share of wallet within the account.

Primary Responsibilities:

Engage in Sales activities outside of the office, face-to-face or within the customer’s location doing the following work:

  • Build business & customer relationships, regardless of the prospect’s contractual status, by proactively creating an awareness and presence with non-ODP Business Solutions customers and ensuring that prospective customers are familiarized with the company's total solutions portfolio. Directs account sales strategy and sells value beyond the core product offering to meet buyer needs. Create relationships with decision influencers, decision makers, end users, current buyers and new prospects within an organization, on a regular, as required, basis. 
  • Manage customers with multiple locations, found across a defined territory working with multiple individuals with the authority to make the purchasing decision residing in multiple locations. 
  • Work toward a defined sales goal by selling company products and services to existing customers from an assigned account list. 
  • Responsible for attainment of an annual new business incremental sales goal as well as a base revenue and incremental annual sales goal as outlined in the Incentive Compensation Plan.
  • Network and cold call prospective customers and leads (based on customer profile in volume, size and service requirements) to arrange meeting times to present ODP Business Solutions as a potential vendor for solutions that relate directly to key needs and business issues of account.
  • Develop and execute pricing strategies and tactics to ensure ODP Business Solutions can earn appropriate profitability based on customer profile in volume, size, and service requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation process for new and existing accounts to eliminate obstacles to buying early and often in the relationship cycle.  Involved in bids, re-bidding existing contracts, and proposal requests.
  • Enter and maintain customer information in ODP Business Solutions 's CRM system and Contact Strategy dashboard on a regular basis and in a timely fashion.  Extract customer information to create business plans, sales presentations and support strategic customer solutions..

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent edu preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in related field
  • 2-4 years experience and/or training in Outside Sales
  • Basic computer skills, as well as solid navigation skills and functional capabilities of Office Depot website and of Office Depot E-Commerce 
  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and G-Mail 
  • CRM systems, a plus 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong Sales skills 
  • Thorough grasp of professional and consultative selling skills to include a history of successful contract negotiations.  The close cycle ranges from a “one call close” to multiple calls over many months. 
  • Demonstrated working understanding of the customer relationship process and a demonstrated record of mid to senior level customer contacts. 
  • Professional and consultative selling skills to include some contract negotiations.   
  • Fluid organization agility: the ability to quickly learn, understand and navigate an organization at the upper to lower levels. 
  • Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) skills and be able to present complex business plans and topics (pricing or service strategies).

    Overview
