Overview

*This will be a hybrid position based out of one of the following locations: Boca Raton, FL, Dallas, TX, Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL

 

The Lead SC Optimizer will play a key leadership role in AOP strategic initiatives such as SKU replenishment strategies, Ship from Store, alt-sourcing, etc. This will be achieved through the development of inventory flowpath models, which will look at the flow of product from the vendor all the way to the customers (contract, e-commerce, and retail). The models will be developed using SQL databases, LLamasoft's Supply Chain Guru optimization tool, and Excel. The recommendations will be implemented in order to save inventory expense, transportation, and labor in the DCs, cross docks and stores. 

Examples of the flowpath models to be developed include:

  • Model the impact of multi-echelon inventory holding and transportation on total network costs.
  • Simulate the replenishment process, factoring in labor cost, picking costs, transportation cost, inventory etc. to determine when inventory should be pushed vs pulled at different locations within the network.
  • Determine when it is best to source from alternate DCs using UPS or Fedex vs Wholesale and VW vendors in order to maximize bottom line while maintaining customer satisfaction.

 

All such projects require related business experience with just as importantly, knowledge of LLamasoft's Supply Chain Guru, years of coding (SQL, VBA, scripting, etc.), data management, mathematical and modeling experience to pull of the information and process it into a coherent process.  The Lead will be responsible for interacting with partners within supply chain and merchandising in order to understand the viability of the suggested solutions and design their implementation.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop Sourcing models to determine when it is best to source from alternate DCs using UPS or Fedex vs Wholesale and Virtual Warehouse vendors in order to maximize bottom line while maintaining customer satisfaction. This will be done utilizing Network Optimization software like LLamasoft.
  • Simulate the replenishment process, factoring in labor cost, picking costs, transportation cost, inventory etc. to determine when inventory should be pushed vs pulled at different locations within the network. This will be done utilizing software that has the capability to integrate Network Optimization and Simulations.
  • Discuss Supply Chain business processes with Directors and their teams to capture the necessary information to model current business processes. This information will be used to populate Network models for the purpose of optimizing the distribution network to achieve a optimal balance between cost and service.
  • Provide mentorship, teaching and training to team members to grow the skills in team.
  • ·Model the impact of multi-echelon inventory holding and transportation on total network costs.  This will be done utilizing software that has the capability to integrate Network Optimization and Simulations.
  • Think Strategically -- understand the holistic picture.
  • Identify the desired end-state of the analytical activity, develop representative models, interpret the results to build initiative business case.
  • Influence the SC leadership on projects and initiatives directly affecting functional cost and efficiency.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree and/or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or Similar Field
  • Minimum 8 years experience in related field
  • Master and 8 years of experience or 10 years of experience in the related field.

  • Data Retrieval, Data Modeling, Data Analysis, Mathematical Modeling, Optimization
  • English (Reading, Writing, and Verbal
  • Leadership
  •  Strategic thinker who is able to succinctly communicate operations strategy to business stakeholders.
  • Strong communications, interpersonal and presentation skills with ability to influence piers as well as executives.
  • Problem Solving/ Analytics
  • Exceptional knowledge of Mathematical / Statistical modeling
  • Expert in Supply Chain Operations, methods and procedures.
  • Expert in Mathematical / Statistical Modeling. Utilize data mining results to develop feasible solution alternative.
  • Technical Skills
  •  Advanced expertise in SQL Server, MS Access, Project, Excel, and other MS Office products.
  • LLamasoft Supply Chain Guru experience
  •  Advanced experience working in a Buisnes Intelligence reporting applications. Cognos experience preferred.
  • Advanced skill in data retrieval, data management, data modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehouse systems.
  • Knowledge of visual basic or similar coding experience.
