Hybrid position: 3 days onsite at our Boca Raton, FL HQ/2 days work from home

 

The Senior Manager, Procurement Category is accountable for ongoing category management activities within an assigned scope of complex spend categories to achieve business objectives and benefit targets. Expected to stay abreast of recent global industry trends and understands the implications to cost, quality and risk. Based on market forces and internal requirements, develops sourcing strategies and leads supplier selection process using qualitative and quantitative analysis. Manages global strategic supplier relationships and rationalizes supply base within assigned complex spend categories. Must possesses expertise in the assigned category, as well as functional expertise in the strategic sourcing process and methodologies

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs internal assessment of current and future needs, conducts external assessment of market trends and competitive suppliers, and develops financial models to discern the total cost of ownership within assigned complex spend category
  • Based on category analysis, defines and maintains formal category business plan, including appropriate sourcing strategy, to ensure that business plan objectives are met
  • For assigned category, leads cross-functional team to execute the strategic sourcing process including specification identification, sourcing strategy development, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
  • Has primary accountability for delivering results (e.g., savings targets and process improvements) within assigned complex categories
  • Communicates category expectations, monitors supplier performance, prepares supplier scorecards facilitates two-way feedback with suppliers.
  • Communicates to internal business customers the terms of supplier agreements, their appropriate usage, and expected supplier performance measurement
  • Drives value through innovation and collaboration with strategic suppliers to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Expected to provide guidance and coaching to more junior Category Managers and Category Specialists even though they may not be direct reports

 

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or similar
  • 7-10 years of experience and/or training in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Specific Category Expertise.
  • CPSM Preferred
  • Position Specific Skills:
    • Drives development of optimal strategies for complex categories
    • Deep understanding of assigned categories, supply markets, suppliers and products
    • Detailed knowledge of the sourcing process including various sourcing strategies
    • Understanding of pricing models and contracts terms
    • Advanced knowledge of e-sourcing tools
  • Ability to learn quickly and to think creatively
  • Proactive and dynamic, drives sense of urgency
  • Strong strategic thinker and able to succinctly communicate category strategy to business unit stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills
  • Cross functional team management and facilitation skills
  • Ability to effectively lead change within organization
  • Develops solutions to complex problems
  • Regularly uses ingenuity and innovation to develop solutions that are consistent with organization objectives
  • Very strong analytic and negotiation skills
  • Superior communications, interpersonal and presentation skills with strong influencing and persuasive abilities
  • Expertise in MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP systems and online sourcing tools (ideally Ariba)
  • Must be capable of performing all aspects of category management, including:
    • Market Research
    • Strategy Development
    • Strategic Sourcing
    • Contract Negotiations
    • Supplier Performance Management
    • Internal Customer Engagement
    • Continuous Improvement
