Overview

The Sr. Lead Engineer – Network Services is a network architecture role that will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a scalable, high volume, high capacity, and highly available network infrastructure that spans over 10,000 devices and serves 1000+ retail stores, 50+ sales offices, 50+ distribution centers and a multi-business unit shared infrastructure.  This role requires expertise in ITSM processes, vendor management, network platforms, various networking technologies, and circuit management. The Sr. Lead Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical leadership, and continuously improve network performance and security while ensuring compliance with SLAs and best practices. 

A primary focus will be developing and implementing the network architecture strategy for migrating legacy data center infrastructure to cloud-based environments, and leading the planning, design, implementation and testing of network solutions, including cloud networking, policy configuration and micro segmentation.

Primary Responsibility:

  1. Provide technical leadership and expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting a scalable, high volume, high capacity, and highly available network architecture.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement technology deployments and reviews to meet business requirements and ensure optimal network performance.
  3. Develop and implement the network architecture strategy for migrating legacy data center infrastructure to cloud-based environments and lead the planning, design, implementation, and testing of network solutions, including cloud networking, policy configuration and micro segmentation.
  4. Perform network assessments, capacity planning, and performance tuning to optimize network performance and availability across the distribution center network, sales offices, retail stores and contact centers.
  5. Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  6. Provide mentorship and guidance to other team members / service provider and participate in knowledge sharing activities to promote continuous learning and improvement within the team.

Education & Experience:

Level of Formal Education:          

  • Associates degree or higher.

Area of Study:   

  • Computer / Technology related.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience with networking-based technologies ranging from support, engineering, implementation, and architecture; preferably in large-scale enterprise environments.

Type of Experience:        

  • Progressive career experiences demonstrating additional responsibilities, evolving technologies and new skills.

Language Skills: 

  • English

Technical Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of various networking technologies, including, but not limited to ACL, BGP, EIGRP, GRE, HSRP/VRRP, HTTPS Inspection, IKE, BGP, IPSEC, VLAN, Proxy / NAT / PAT, VPN, LTM, NGFW, VPC and VRF.

Skills and Ability:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in ITSM processes, including SLA management, change management, incident management, problem management, request fulfillment, availability management, and knowledge management.
  • Proven expertise in managing vendors and vendor relationships, including Meraki, Check Point, Juniper, Cisco, F5, Microsoft, Equinix, Verizon, Lumen, AT&T, Arin, and other relevant vendors.
  • Strong hands-on experience with network platforms, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless LAN, IPSEC VPN, SSL VPN, IPAM, virtual networking, WAN, LAN, cloud networking, security group management, policy configuration, and micro segmentation.
