Responsibilities

 

The primary role of the Regional Director is to plan, direct and oversee the strategic and daily business activities of 10 Retail Districts within a geographic region ( Northwest)  comprised of approximately 200 store locations to ensure origination, acquisition and retention of customers while managing a profitable and growing business. This includes achieving budgeted sales, profitability, productivity, expense control, remarkable customer service, store standards, developing internally and/or recruiting external store management teams for future growth of the organization.

Additionally, the Regional Directors focus is to support the continued improvement of the In Store Customer Experience and sales throughout the region they are assigned in. The incumbent will work with the Store Support team, the regional team (inclusive of Regional Vice President, District Managers and Store Managers) and supporting areas (such as Finance, Human Resources, Loss Prevention) to influence change, gain alignment and execute company programs at the Regional level. They will ensure sales, service and associate training is maximized in the Region and will continue to foster the in store customer experience. They will also provide feedback to the Store Sales Support team for improvement of the overall in store customer experience and the overall process improvement for customer service and sales.

Qualifications

 

10+ years of progressively responsible professional-level operations experience in a multi-unit position within a retail organization.

  • Must be able to create and execute detailed plans relating to annual business strategy, project-specific time/action planning, customer acquisition and retention planning, and cross-functional project planning consistent with attending and contributing to broad company initiatives. Proven track record of making plan and delivering on numbers.
  • Due to the magnitude and visibility of this position, must have demonstrated success in partnering with the Company’s business leaders to achieve ongoing positive business impact.
  • Strong results orientation, persistence and tenacity to drive efforts beyond concept to implementation through store teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include the ability to listen with patience, understand non-verbal communication cues, and speak with confidence to various levels within the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills to include managing, influencing, organizing and developing teams of people to enhance skills, increase productivity and focus on the customer and highest priority activities. Proven success with attracting, developing and mentoring talent so as to improve the team’s performance and productivity.

Retail District Sales Manager

Meet Phillip Rumpf, our Retail District Sales Manager in the Salt Lake City UT market. Phillip has been with Office Depot for 5 years now, and in that time, he has quickly advanced through our stores organization as a Customer Service Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager and now as District Sales Manager.

The path to his current position has been challenging and rewarding and his leadership took the opportunity to develop him and encourage his ambitions along the way. As a Store Manager, Phillip was identified as a high potential leader and was selected for our “Blue Angels” program for leadership development which led to his current DSM role.
