Overview

The Controller is responsible for governance over functions performed at the Federation location including accounting, reconciliations, analysis, reporting, and special projects.  Responsibilities include the development and issuance of Federation Companies’ reporting including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, and the accounting for all P&L and Balance Sheet line items. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that the overall general ledger month-end close is completed timely and accurately, and for supporting the timely and accurate release of the Company's financial statements, explaining material variances to plan and prior year, and reviewing with Company Leadership. 
This position supports the Premium Federation Company located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Federation is a division within the ODP Corporation. The position reports to Sr. Director, Finance located in Boca Raton, FL.
Responsibilities:
Manages a staff as well as oversee the general accounting functions, including general accounting, reporting, account reconciliations and month end close.
Approves reconciliations and journals ensuring accurate accounting and financial statement presentation.  Review account activity, reconciliations and balances highlighting areas for further research.
Oversees the development and review of financial reporting for the Premium company including the monthly P&L and quarterly Balance Sheet & Cash flow. Also responsible for monthly supplemental reporting for the Company's intercompany balance and other reporting required by external reporting and Federation Leadership.
Ensures the accurate, successful, and timely completion of the month end close.
Participates in special projects by supporting and leading cross functional teams; act as accounting subject matter expert and establish partnership with the business that ensures he or she is sought out and consulted with on business decisions that impact the financial statements.
Ensures SOX controls have been identified, evidenced, and documented.  Monitor and review processes and reports to ensure accuracy of the financial statements and compliance with SOX controls.
Determines and implement appropriate accounting treatment in line with US GAAP for new business transactions and processes.
Works with Company leadership to prepare annual operating plan and quarterly P&L and Cash Flow forecasts as well as prepare for quarterly financial statement reviews with Corporate Accounting.
Decides how to deploy people and other resources to achieve planned results within an approved operating plan and budget.  Decisions are evaluated by operational results delivered.
Interacts extensively with other departments, frequent interaction with top management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting/Finance
10+ years of diverse accounting experience. Experience should include direct management or supervision of staff and a practical understanding of financial statements, accounting principles with a good understanding of US GAAP, month end close and audit cycle, and account reconciliations for moderate to highly complex accounts. 
CPA and/or MBA preferred
Experience with accounting systems implementations is a plus
US GAAP; Above average computer skills and information systems proficiency. Excellent Excel skills are required to include Pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, formulas and functions.   
Ability to meet high deadline demands with accurate and timely information.  
Ability to review complex issues and make timely decisions on the impact of the financial statements. 
Ability to establish and strengthen relationships across organizational boundaries.  
Ability to motivate, drive and manage self and others.  
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, especially as it relates to budget-to-actual variances.  
Must be highly detail oriented, highly accurate, and a strong communicator.
