Overview

This is a sales position with the primary responsibility for developing professional business relationships with customers once the decision to have Office Depot as their office supply and solutions vendor has been confirmed.; The Account Manager (AM) will work toward, selling and penetration, using a consultative selling approach, focused on adding new products to an existing customer's current; assortment.; Engaged in sales activities outside of the office, face-to-face, including, but not limited to, creating relationships with non-Office Depot customers and developing a clear, complete understanding of their potential business issues and needs. Sales activities also include working towards strengthening the businessss relationships and maximizing the penetration opportunity of existing customers by providing holistic business solutions to customers that typically purchase or have the potential to purchase between $25,000 to $250,000.; This position will target markets by direct outside sales with customers that typically have between 100 and 1,000 white-collar workers.

  • This position will have a base revenue and incremental sales goal to achieve annually.

  • The Account Manager (AM) sustains existing business relationships and seeks opportunities to enhance the existing business potential across all product and service lines.

  • Engaged in sales activities outside of the office, face-to-face,; including, but not limited to, creating relationships with non-Office Depot decision influencers, decision makers, end users, current buyers and new prospects within an organization, on a regular, as required, basis. Directs accounts sales strategy and sells value beyond the core product offering to meet buyers needs.; Sales active includes selling to existing Office Depot customers a further and deeper range of products and services from Office Depot.

  • The Account Manager (AM) will be responsible for an accelerated implementation and remove obstacles to initial, and repeated purchases.; Ensure timely and direct implementation training and support. 

  • The position will build business & customer relationships, regardless of the prospects contractual status, by proactively creating a awareness and presence with non-Office Depot customers and ensuring that prospective customers are familiarized with Office Depot's total solutions beyond core office supplies (MPS, CBS, CPD, Furniture, Technology). 

  • Typically, the Account Manager will manage customers with multiple locations, found across multiple Districts or Regions, working with multiple individuals with the authority to make the purchasing decision residing in multiple locations.; Responsible for arranging meeting times to present new Office Depot products, services and solutions.; 

  •  Ensure Office Depot can earn appropriate profitability based on customer profile in volume, size and service requirements.; This will require the execution of our pricing strategy and tactics.; 

  • Oversee the implementation process for existing accounts to eliminate obstacles to buying early and often in the relationship cycle.; Involved in bids and request for proposals and will be involved in re-bidding existing contracts.; Also, responsible for arranging meeting times to present new Office Depot products, services and other offering. 

  •  Enter and maintain customer information in Office Depot's CRM system (SFDC)and Contact Strategy dashboard on a regular basis and in a timely fashion.; Further, extract customer information to create business plans, sales presentations and support strategic customer solutions. Will resolve administrative maintenance and invoicing issues as necessary.; Will lead team projects on an as needed basis within the district.; Will act as a peer coach/sales team motivator for other sales representatives

    Qualifications: 
    •           Bachelor Degree preferred

    •           Minimum 4 years experience in related field; Professional B2B outside sales

      • Strong sales skills

      • Proven performance is sales with high achievement and consistently strong results

      • A thorough grasp of professional and consultative selling skills to include a history of successful contract negotiations.; The close cycle ranges from a “one call close” to multiple calls over many months.

      • A demonstrated working understanding of the customer relationship process and a demonstrated record of mid to senior level customer contacts

      • Professional consultative selling skills to include some contract negotiations.

      • Fluid organization agility (the ability to quickly learn, understand and navigate an organization at the upper to lower levels).

      • Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) skills and be able to present complex business plans and topics (pricing or service strategies).

      • Strong sales skills

      • Proven performance in sales with high achievement and consistently strong results

      • Professional and consultative selling skills to include a history of successful contract negotiations. The close cycle ranges from a “one call close” to multiple calls over many months.

      • Working knowledge of MS Office products and CRM systems.; Solid navigation skills and functional capabilities of Office Depot web site and of Office Depot e-Commerce

Retail District Sales Manager

Meet Phillip Rumpf, our Retail District Sales Manager in the Salt Lake City UT market. Phillip has been with Office Depot for 5 years now, and in that time, he has quickly advanced through our stores organization as a Customer Service Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager and now as District Sales Manager.

The path to his current position has been challenging and rewarding and his leadership took the opportunity to develop him and encourage his ambitions along the way. As a Store Manager, Phillip was identified as a high potential leader and was selected for our “Blue Angels” program for leadership development which led to his current DSM role.
