Responsibilities

The Lead Solution Engineer is responsible for leading, delivering, and supporting Projects spanning multiple organizations. This candidate will be hands-on from Ideation, Solutioning, Design, Development, and Build through Production implementation. The Lead Solution Engineer will participate in triage and troubleshooting for critical problems and serves as a strong technical resource for related technologies and project delivery. Defining and building the end-to-end technology solution; leading cross functional teams on requirements, systems design, user experience designs, implementations, testing, and feature launches following an Agile development process. She/he will demonstrate collaboration skills with internal and external teams, independent task management, and leadership to influence best practices, processes, and procedures complementing IT Domain objectives. Manage and communicate status to stakeholders, including Office Depot’s executive leadership.

Primary Responsibility:

  • Lead solution design and development, pipeline builds, automation, configuration management, functional/performance testing, and application support.
  • Lead project engagement and development members from scope definition to Production deployment; leads SDLC reviews (peer, design, standards, etc.) and credible advisor in specific IT domain.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business teams to ensure application and service solutions are successful and respect principles of Office Deport Architecture (applications, systems, database, security, network, etc.).
  • Proactive with identification, communication, and resolution of issues that may impact a project or initiative; seeks innovative ways to remove/overcome obstacles.
  • Formalize and ensure development tools, standards, policies, and methodologies are established, documented, and adhered to; serves as escalation resource and mentors others as and where needed.
  • Solution alignment with enterprise data center technologies including operating systems, storage platforms, network switching, and security infrastructure within a physical and virtualized data center.
  • Evaluate, learn, and establish improvement opportunities with people, process, and technology; establish innovative methods to achieve overall strategies and objectives; remains current with industry solution technologies and practices.
  • Understanding of disaster recovery, high availability, and other technologies and principles that support business continuity; both in virtualized and cloud environments.
  • Assist with additional duties and responsibilities as needed or requested.

Qualifications/Skills:

    • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree a plus)
    • Minimum 10 year experience in related field
    • Overall experience in IT systems or application development.; Minimum of 5 years of experience with solutioning, designing, developing, and deploying 5+ full lifecycle systems or projects
    • Solution, design, and development with applicable technologies and Agile methodology.
      • Strong technical expertise in one or more IT domain, solving complex problems in fast-paced, always on, environment, including database, security, network.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills and hands-on leadership with onsite and offsite resources.
      • Proven ability in agile development, performance measures, test plans, quality assurance methodology and product release criteria based on user requirements.
      • Very strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Lead standardization of tools/techniques, including continuous speed and quality improvements for project delivery
    • Superior analytical skills; must be able to break down complex and ambiguous problems, collect and analyze data, apply critical thinking, come up with options, make recommendations, and refine solutions.
    • Utilizes multiple resources to quickly learn on the job.
    • Ability to continuously drive results, display a high level of confidence not just in self but in other people as well, inspire and motivate team performance.  Demonstrate an ability to navigate complex situations and tasks with calmness and composure, setting an example for others. Ability to identify, attract, and develop team talent.
    • Solid experience with Oracle Database, Oracle EBS, Oracle ERP Cloud.
    • Solid experience with cloud technologies and platforms such as AWS, Google, Oracle Cloud, Go-Lang micro services, React JS, Dev-Ops, Dockers, and Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, AWS S3
    • Experience with ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) preferred
