Overview

The Senior Pricing Analyst will compile and review internal and external data and leverage optimization tools to make informed pricing recommendations.  This individual will work closely with the Category Merchants and the Director of Strategic Pricing to confirm pricing strategies and determine optimal prices in order to achieve strategic objectives.


Primary Responsibility:

1. Partner with Category Managers to ensure pricing strategy supports evolving business objectives. Implement price changes as necessary to maintain category pricing strategies.  Advise merchant partners on pricing options; assess merchant pricing suggestions, communicate impacts and propose alternatives.
2. Track key business metrics (e.g. sales, share, value perception, margin, customer attributes, etc.) to continually evaluate pricing effectiveness and refine pricing strategies as needed.
3. Continually evaluate competitors and marketplace dynamics through the collection and management of competitive pricing data to apply competitive pricing rules and preserve positive customer price perception.
4. Take initiative in identifying and resolving issues around pricing and margin. Test pricing hypotheses, measure results, and develop strategy insights and implications.
5. Develop a deep understanding of category financial levers including sales, markdowns, funding, and profitability as input to the overall pricing strategy.
6. Perform marketplace  research to review and maintain appropriate pricing clusters for execution of localized pricing. Perform margin and pricing analysis to support key business initiatives as required.


Education & Experience:

Level of Formal Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

Area of Study: Business, Management Science, Mathematics, Finance, or Economics
Years of Experience: Minimum 3 year experience in related field

Type of Experience: Business or Financial, analytical experience, Retail and pricing strategy experience preferred.
Special Certifications:
(CPA, Etc.) • None
Language Skills: • Strong, and Professional Communication Skills are required
Technical Competencies: • Strong Data Management Skills
Skills and Ability: • Project leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact.
• Outstanding analytical skills and the ability to understand and develop strategy.
• Ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable recommendations
• Good communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
• Strong Excel skills required, Power BI and VBA familiarity a plus
