Sr. Planner, Inventory Demand Job Summary:

Responsible for Developing, executing, and communicating inventory buys and forecasts that support the merchandising, marketing, and financial objectives, and strategies of a division/category. This will involve driving financial results through service and quality inventory management that maximizes sales, while improving inventory and bottom-line profitability resulting in gross margin return on investment (GMROI) and inventory turn goals. This would involve developing and providing seasonal projections and commitments to our suppliers, analyzing historical data, productivity, current trends to identify risk and opportunities while creating actions steps and recommendations to ensure delivery of plan and maintain revised forecast in the system tools. This individual role will also be required to collaborate internally and externally, and act as mentor, trainer, and coach to planners on a day-to-day basis. The Sr. Planner will manage the more complex business categories that require more business experience and will often be more promotional, volatile, more visible, and impact the overall customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and communicate inventory buys and forecasts that support the merchandising, marketing, and financial objectives, and strategies of a division/category.
  • Develop and execute seasonal projections and commitments.
  • Drive financial results through service and quality inventory management that maximize sales, inventory, and bottom-line profitability resulting in gross margin return on investment (GMROI) and inventory turn goals.
  • Analyze historical data, productivity, and current trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Actively evaluate business results, create action steps. and recommendations to ensure delivery of plan and maintain revised forecasts in system tools
  • Communicate key issues and action plans to manager and cross-functional team on a weekly basis, while actively partnering cross functionally to drive shared business goals and key outcomes.
  • Initiate and maintain regular communication with Suppliers that will foster collaboration and alignment on forecast and order quantities with ensuring delivery accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Mentor, Train, and Coach Planners and specialist on day-to-day responsibilities around the Demand Planner role.
  • Support a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented environment with peers and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive on-going Collaboration with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best practices, and develop systems knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in business related discipline (e.g., Supply Chain, logistics, transportation, finance, statistics, or quantitative business analysis).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience and/or training with inventory management in a high volume, multi-location distribution environment or equivalent manufacturing resource planning experience.

Other Information:

  • Experience in statistical-based forecasting and JIT inventory management processes, understanding of forecasting packages such as RDF, SDG or E3 a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of PC, particularly Excel, and database applications.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of JIT inventory management / replenishment functions, retail operations, working knowledge of offices products industry and understanding of Merchandising practices.
  • Any demand planning system.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Decision Quality & Problem Solving: through innovation, creative thinking, challenging the status quo, questioning nature.
  • Drive Results: the ability to build organizational capability to sustain and continuously improve performance.
  • Customer Focus: accountability and the ability to overcome obstacles.
