Overview

The Sustainability Solutions Manager (SSM) is responsible for differentiating Office Depot and driving revenue and margin based on our industry-leading Sustainability solutions across the enterprise.  In close coordination with the contract sales field and the Sustainability team, the SSM will market and implement Office Depot green solutions across all segments. The SSM will assist the general sales force to identify prospecting sources for new business opportunities.  This will include leading green sales training across the BSD organization to grow competence and usage of resources which will lead to increased margins and business development.

 
Primary/Key Responsibilities

1. Provide ongoing support to the sales organization and customers on sustainability matters.
2. Conduct sales presentations in person or via webinar to support strategic customer solutions around sustainability goals and initiatives across the all regions. Create relationships with key decision makers for environmental solutions within customer base that will develop a clear understanding of their potential business issues and needs. 
3. Provide professional Sustainability training and coaching, both class room and telephone format to Office Depot sales professionals, to increase the competency and confidence of the BSD field force in Sustainability selling. Develop mechanisms to measure and report progress.
4. Develop sales and marketing-oriented content, RFP response content and customer/prospect presentation materials from developed metrics.
5. Lead a team of representatives (Sustainable Business Development Team) with regular meetings to grow knowledge around sustainable purchasing, provide updates on products, resources, available programs and partnerships.  Information is to be distributed by reps to increase communication of green sales efforts. 
6. Manage Customer and Internal Sustainability Recognition Program 
7. Manage and maintain all communications and resources in the contract channel (i.e. salesforece.com, Seismic). Work with Communications to delivery timely and relevant information on Sustainability initiatives.
8. Development, participation and outreach supporting Sustainability initiatives throughout the Community and through Company Sponsored Depot Difference Events.
9. Identify opportunities for Office Depot to participate and apply for industry awards and recognition to enhance Office Depot’s brand and leadership in Sustainability. Prepare and submit the applications.
10. Identify areas of opportunities to enhance customer solutions, to include reporting. Work with internal teams to enhance reporting and other opportunities identified.


Education & Experience

Level of Formal Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

Area of Study: Business/Marketing/Environmental Studies or Sustainable Business preferred
Years of Experience: Minimum 5 year experience in related field

Type of Experience: B2B Sales/Marketing/Sustainability
Special Certifications:
(CPA, Etc.) • N/A
Language Skills: • Strong verbal and written communications skills
Technical Competencies: • Strong computer skills: Power Point, Excel, Office Depot internal systems preferred
Skills and Ability: • Excellent presentation skills (both phone and in-person)
• Customer Service-focused, dependable and committed
• Ability to engage at high level with customers and conduct presentations on overall GreenerOffice program and resources as well as deliver and explain detail in customized reports
• Ability to conduct training sessions, guide and evolve a team of sales reps in greener selling
• Ability to adjust customer/prospect presentations using the ‘Shades of Green’ approach to customer behavior and strategy
• Ability to connect ‘business’ and ‘environmental’ approach to presentations and selling
• Ability to travel
