Strategic Development Manager Job Summary:

The Manager of Strategic Development is responsible for developing processes and systems to effectively integrate, prioritize, and monitor organizational initiatives and business plans, with a focus on employee engagement, efficiency, and speed to customer value.  

The ideal candidate will work with the department leadership team to document, assess, and prioritize organization-wide workload, give visibility to what work that is being done by whom, status on the progress of work, how work is being done, how work tracks to organization KPIs, and how work contributes to company goals. 

This role is responsible for developing solutions for stakeholder visibility to project status, workload, outcomes, etc.  The role will identify opportunities for process streamlining and reduction of complexity. The role will support internal and external communication plans.

Strong project management, organization, command, planning, and process improvement skills are preferred and the ability to adapt to new technologies and solutions.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop pipeline of organizational workload with low administrative burden on employees and high automation of status and reporting both for leadership and stakeholder visibility. 
  • Collaborate with analytics team to integrate relevant workload data and to develop efficient processes and low-cost systems for pipeline management.
  • Coordinate the organizational goal setting processes tied to company strategies.
  • Work with leadership to develop a cadence of pipeline reviews, oversight, dynamic prioritization, and escalations to ensure execution to organization commitments and identify opportunities for process streamlining and complexity reduction.
  • Work with business unit liaisons to develop stakeholder-facing dashboards/reporting to enhance customer transparency to organizational value-added activities and to reduce organizational administrative burden.
  • Develop mechanism for assessing organizational capacity, and measure organizational workload against capacity to identify opportunities to accelerate strategies/initiatives or to anticipate bottlenecks and constraints that need proactive intervention.
  • Use project planning skills to integrate organization initiatives with core workload and ensure plans are in place for all organizational strategies.

Education & Experience:

  • Level of Formal Education - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Years of Experience - Minimum 7-year experience in related field.
  • Type of Experience - Project management, LEAN/Six Sigma, Process Improvement.
  • Special Certifications - Preferred LEAN, PMP.
  • Technical Competencies - Excellent adaptability to technology solutions.

Skills and Ability:

  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Strong project management skills, LEAN, process improvement.
  • Strong organization, leadership, and business acumen.
  • Ability to coach, teach, influence, and develop others, and manage large scale change.
  • Command skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project planning tools (Smartsheet, Project, Planner, etc.).
