Overview

The primary function is to provide operational support to the Merchant teams in managing and processing of vendor income. The role includes, but is not limited to, timely submission of vendor programs claims for review and approval, gathering of supporting documentation, and finalization of programs/claims. Other responsibilities include running and analyzing reports (i.e., sales, purchases, etc.), and attending weekly/quarterly meetings with the Vendor Programs Accounting and Merchant teams to discuss outstanding vendor programs claims. 

Primary Responsibilities

Conducts quantitative analysis for all channels within Office Depot, using financial, competitor, consumer, and industry insights. Creates fact-based recommendations to define category strategies, merchandising tactics, and specific business initiatives. Supports merchants in understanding the patterns and trends within the category and across each store to determine the appropriate strategy and assortment plan. Works with cross-functional teams to define the business needs and ensure alignment for all recommendations. Monitors and measures benefits associated with each recommendation and communicate results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Merchandising, Marketing, or equivalent analytical position.
  • Proficiency in Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and statistical skills.
  • Exceptional skills in creating, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative results.
  • Knowledge of retail metrics, top down and bottom-up financial analysis and benefits tracking.
  • Knowledge of merchandising fundamentals, Merchant buying practices and item lifecycle.
  • Creativity and problem-solving capabilities.

Additional Information

  • Submits vendor programs claims as planned by Merchant, and in compliance with vendor requirements, and follows through finalization of each claims.
  • Gathers supporting documentation as required by Vendor Programs Accounting and/or vendors.
  • Retrieves, analyzes, and presents data to the merchants and/or vendors with particular attention to timeliness and accuracy.
  • Responds to ad-hoc requests for information/analyses from Manager/Director.
