Overview

A Senior Auditor leads and conducts moderately complex and moderate risk audits and special projects. They assess the risk of the unit under review and determine and communicate the objectives and scope of the audit to the management of the unit. A Senior Auditor designs testing procedures and develops the audit program. They perform, and supervise, completion of the audit program. They communicate the issues identified during the audit, in verbal discussions with the auditee and management, and prepare written reports summarizing the results. The Director and Managers of auditing supervise their work on very complex audits, but the Senior conducts moderate risk audits and projects with minimal supervision. They also mentor and supervise the work of an Auditor and Associate Auditor within the department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identifies and assesses the risks of the activity under review, through discussions with all levels of management responsible for the function, as well by reviewing appropriate documentation. Develops a Control Risk Matrix of the function to documents the results
  • Determines the objectives and scope for each audit. Develops a
  • Planning Memo to document the scope and objective. Conducts opening meeting with VP of the activity under review, and their staff, to discuss the scope and objectives of the audit.
  • Designs specific testing procedures to identify and evaluate risk exposures and risk management, determine the effectiveness and efficiency of controls, and identify opportunities for improvement. Develops a work program to document these procedures.
  • Conducts audit fieldwork, by identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and recording information about the activity being audited. Documents testing in automated work papers.
  • Communicates the results of the review.
  • Tests key controls, identified by the process owners and documented by the Sarbanes Oxley team, for financial reporting.
  • Conducts moderately complex special projects, as requested by the
  • organization.
  • Monitors management’s completion of the actions agreed upon in the audit report.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Business administration, management, finance, or accounting
  • Minimum 5 years experience in related field
  • Two years of big4 public accounting, or equivalent experience
  • CPA a plus
  • Position requires an impartial, unbiased attitude. There must be no conflicts of interest, which could impair independence. Must be able to lead moderately difficult jobs with minimal supervision, or complex jobs in conjunction with a Manager
  • Knowledge of- Generally accepted accounting principles, Effective internal controls for each financial and operational cycle, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, Financial and operational audit techniques and workpaper documentation, Computer assisted auditing techniques, Complex spreadsheets and analytical techniques, Auto Audit or other audit documents management tool.
