Overview

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for creating effective enterprise-wide training and development programs that support broader organization development, HR and associate engagement initiatives aligned to company strategy and business plans. This role will work with Learning Managers to define and document enterprise and business specific learning objectives and adapt programs to support and enhance those objectives; responsible for implementing and utilizing technology and tools to optimize the learning process across the organization; may adapt existing content and create new content that integrates interactive tools and technology to enhance learning initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Instruction Systems Design methodology to systematically analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs, materials, learning objectives, measurement modalities and evaluative tools.
  • Partner with senior management to evaluate tasks and re-engineer processes to maximize human performance and to improve financial results.
  • Make recommendations for appropriate non-training or training interventions that drive process improvement and maximize efficiencies.
  • Create programs to support operational and leadership initiatives.
  • Develop interactive learning solutions, simulations, job aids, electronic performance support systems, gamification and cutting-edge e-learning programs.
  • Work to develop solutions to the goals and learning objectives the stakeholders wish to address.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related subject; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3/5 years’ of experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience in Training/Adult Learning
  • Technical Writing, Teaching/Training, performance measuring, multimedia, curriculum, and course development
  • CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) preferred
  • Technical Competencies:
    • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word
    • Project management tools
    • Multimedia authoring tools such as Captivate, Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite
    • May have experience in HTML, Web-based authoring tools like Dreamweaver, Flash, Javascript
    • Microsoft Office ability in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Knowledge of adult learning styles
    • Ability to connect learning designs/programs with strategic vision/direction
    • Ability to storyboard designs in production.
    • Ability to write effective training interventions in a variety of formats (ILT, WBT, Videos, Job Aids, etc.), using different software options to support the selected delivery method.
    • Ability to partner with other functional groups to work co-operatively to improve performance
    • Ability to quickly research, learn new skills, and break those skills down into easily understood concepts for learners
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
    • Must be able to speak/understand/read/write English
    • Troubleshooting and problem solving
    • Attention to detail
    • Knowledge of industry standards
    • Ability to work independently or on a team
